My name is Bright. Yes. Bright like the sun and no, my parents weren’t hippies. Bright is actually a family name, and it’s quite a fun name to have as I go through this life.
I’m in my early 40’s, which is a bit surreal, but such is life. I married my best friend 15 years ago, and we have four kids ranging in ages from 11-years-old to 22-months-old. I’m originally from Atlanta, Georgia, but spent the majority of my young adult life in New York City. After 17 years in the “City That Never Sleeps,” my husband and I made a life-changing decision to leave the Big Apple and move our family to Tampa, Florida. It’s been a great move for our family, but living in a city like New York – nothing can compare.
Before I became a full-time mom, I had a variety of great jobs. I worked at a Manhattan advertising agency until I realized I wanted a sane life. I then worked with Turner Broadcasting in sponsorships and promotions and even experienced the world of professional wrestling with the former WCW on TNT. Quite an experience! When I met my husband, I joined him in ministry and did public relations for an inner-city organization. Once I had kids, I was promoted to a stay-at-home mom and dabbled in many things. Fast forward 12 years, I’m now a blogger. I’ve finally launched my personal blog here, but I’ve also had the privilege to write for the Tampa Bay Moms Blog. Oh, and because I didn’t have enough to do, I decided to start my own premium skincare business with Rodan + Fields. Basically, I’m a communicator, a multi-tasker, organizer, a go-getter and best of all – a mom. I love sharing ideas, tips and resources and encouraging other women to never give up on their dreams.
The Bright Side of Motherhood is my attempt to focus on the positives of motherhood, but also to keep it real. Being a mom IS one of the toughest jobs on the planet and with any job, it has its pros and cons. But what I’ve found is when I’m in the trenches of the daily mommy-grind, I have to remember to live in the moment and enjoy it because as we all know – life is short. We’ve all had some other mom remind us – “enjoy it because it goes by fast time,” and even though we sometimes wish it would go by faster, let’s don’t complain motherhood away. It’s an honor to be a mom and it’s an honor to look on the bright side of motherhood.
Thanks for joining me on this journey!
